An unmoving parade of colorful posters, each one presenting the research of a chemistry lab on campus, filled the hall of LPSC Student Street on Friday, March 13th, 2026. Graduate students discussed their findings with prospective students from all over the United States.

This poster presentation was one of the many events that make up Prospective Grad Open House, a day where the Department of Chemistry illustrates what makes it a top-notch place to study, work, and discover.

Each spring, prospective graduate students travel to Corvallis for a glimpse of the research opportunities they might have at Oregon State University. Current Department of Chemistry graduate students at OSU act as their guides, answering their questions and making them feel at home on campus.

The Prospective Grad Open House features lab tours, meetings with faculty, the poster session demonstrating current research, and fun activities in Corvallis that demonstrate the town’s vibrancy and charm. The experience connects people with the students and faculty at OSU and allows them to envision a future here.

The Prospective Grad Open House was a tremendous success this year, thanks to the logistical expertise and tireless dedication of Tara Stacy, Graduate Coordinator for the Department of Chemistry; along with the Graduate Recruitment Committee, the faculty, and student ambassadors.
