General information

This sequence provides a year of general chemistry for students majoring in most sciences, pre-pharmacy and chemical engineering.

Prerequisites and overrides

CH 221Z - General Chemistry I

This course is offered online. OSU Ecampus assists students with the selection of an approved examination proctor in their local community.

Since prior completion of one of the following courses

  • MTH 111*, 112*, 251*, 251H*, 252*, 252H*, 254*, 254H* or minimum score of 060 in 'Math Placement - ALEKS'
  • equivalent course(s) from another institution

is an institutional/departmental requirement for enrollment in CH 221Z, the chemistry department asks that all prospective students, both degree-seeking and non-degree seeking students, provide documentation verifying completion of the course prerequisites. The prerequisite override mechanism enables the department to accommodate students who have completed their prerequisites at another institution.

CH 222Z - General Chemistry II

This course is offered online. OSU Ecampus assists students with the selection of an approved examination proctor in their local community.

The course prerequisites for CH 222Z are CH 221Z, or its equivalent at another institution. All prospective students, either degree-seeking or non-degree seeking, should provide documentation to the chemistry department verifying completion of these prerequisites. The department can then issue an override for students who have completed these courses at another institution.

CH 223Z – General Chemistry III

This course is offered online. OSU Ecampus assists students with the selection of an approved examination proctor in their local community.

The course prerequisites for CH 223Z are CH 222Z, or its equivalent at another institution. All prospective students, either degree-seeking or non-degree seeking, should provide documentation to the chemistry department verifying completion of these prerequisites. The department can then issue an override for students who have completed these courses at another institution.
