The Single Course Search tool can be used to display the established articulations from other schools for any particular subject such as chemistry (CH).
Some chemistry courses articulate to OSU as a specific OSU chemistry courses. Other chemistry courses will articulate without an OSU number as denoted by LDT (lower division transfer) or UDT (upper division transfer). These chemistry courses may or may not satisfy the specific chemistry requirements for a major.
A student should contact an academic adviser in the specific department of interest for clarification of the department's general chemistry or organic chemistry requirements. The tables below provide some guidance about how transfer courses can be used to fulfill chemistry requirements at OSU.
Transfer from colleges and schools with semesters to OSU with quarters is more complex. In most cases, a complete year (two semesters) of a general chemistry (or organic chemistry) from another Oregon school will be considered to fulfill the general chemistry (or organic chemistry) requirements (3 quarters) of most programs at OSU. However, this will not be indicated in the articulation tables because two semester courses will articulate as two quarter courses (i.e., one quarter missing). The nature and number of labs is also critical.
Basic chemistry or general chemistry courses or sequences from other schools may not articulate to OSU as CH 121-123, CH 221-223, or CH 231-233 & CH 261-263 because the topics and level of coverage do not match the CH 121-123 (or CH 221-223) sequence at OSU. Some of these courses or sequences are based on a general/organic/biochemistry or GOB textbook rather than a traditional general chemistry textbook which has no coverage of biochemistry and little coverage of organic chemistry. The GOB sequence is often the chemistry sequence intended for pre-nursing majors and is not intended for science majors or students whom plan to enroll in more advanced chemistry courses. Hence, the large differences in topics covered and depth of coverage of many topics makes a traditional general chemistry sequence and a GOB sequence non-equivalent and results in a GOB sequence providing inadequate preparation for organic chemistry at OSU.
Many courses are articulated to OSU as chemistry (CH) credits without being identified with a specific OSU course number. The title of the transferred course is the original title of the course at the transfer school and the number of credits transferred is the same as the original course (after conversion from semester to quarter credits if necessary). Some of these courses may fulfill the OSU baccalaureate core requirement for physical science courses (*PS). In some cases, a course or sequence that does not articulate as specific OSU courses may be considered a valid substitute for an OSU course or sequence. This information is given in the tables below. If these courses are needed as enforced prerequisites for other chemistry courses, the chemistry office will provide a manual override where appropriate (as indicated in the tables below). The student must contact the chemistry office to request a manual override and provide transcript evidence that the course was taken.
The tables below are unofficial and provided for information and are hopefully correct. The Single Course Search tool should be consulted as the official source.
In many cases, a course may not articulate as a specific OSU course, but the course still will serve as a prerequisite for other chemistry courses. This situation requires that you contact the OSU chemistry department for an override to be able to register for a course.

Students who plan to transfer to OSU and need general chemistry (CH 121-123 or CH 221-223) for their major at OSU, including science and pre-health majors, must take both SC 214 (& 214L) and 224 (& 224L). With only SC 214, students must take CH 122 and 123 or CH 222 & 223 to complete one year of general chemistry. The combination of all four courses does satisfy the general chemistry requirement for the chemistry minor; because the sequence is only 12 credits, students may need more UD courses to reach 27 credits.
Before Spring 2001, these courses do not convert to specific OSU courses but still satisfy general chemistry requirements. Overrides from the chemistry office are required for advanced chemistry courses.

Students who plan to transfer to OSU and need general chemistry (CH 121-123 or CH 231/261-233/263, previously CH 221-223) for their major at OSU, including science and pre-health majors, must take both CHEM 101 and 102. With only CHEM 101, students must take CH 122 & 123 or CH 231/261-233/263 (previously 222 & 223) to complete one year of general chemistry. CHEM 101 plus 102 does satisfy the general chemistry requirement for the chemistry minor.

Transfer students to OSU who need either CH 331-332 or CH 334-336 should take CHEM 201 & 202 which will fulfill the requirements of organic chemistry for students who are required to take CH 331, 332, & 337 and for three "upper division" courses including one lab course for the chemistry minor. Chemistry majors should take CHEM 201 and 202 to fulfill the requirements for chemistry majors at OSU for CH 334-336 and CH 361.
The combination of CHEM 332 and 333 fulfills the requirements for one year of physical chemistry (CH 440-442) at OSU for chemistry majors.

With only CHM 207, students must take CH 122 and 123 or CH 232/262-233/263 (previously 222 & 223) to complete one year of general chemistry. CHM 207 plus 208 with the labs does satisfy the general chemistry requirement for the chemistry minor. However, because the sequence is only 12 credits, students may need more UD courses to reach 27 credits.
Before Spring 2001, these courses do not convert to specific OSU courses but still satisfy general chemistry requirements. Overrides from the chemistry office are required for advanced chemistry courses.
