B.S. Degree in Chemistry with Premed Option (Track Two)

Department of Chemistry
Gilbert Hall 153
(541) 737-2081

The PreMed Option is directed at students planning to apply to medical or dental school who also wish to target chemistry as a career pathway. A B.S. degree in chemistry provides a strong foundation for many professions and post-graduate degrees. Students can earn a chemistry degree in four years while also taking premed option courses in biology, biochemistry, and related areas that are important components for application to medical school.

a The analytical chemistry of combination of CH 421 (Fall), CH 422 (Winter), and CH 461 (Fall) is recommended for the strongest background in analytical chemistry and should be taken the third year. With this option, only one inorganic chemistry course is required (either CH 411 or CH 412) so that this option adds only 2 credit hours to the total.
