This page indicates which general chemistry courses from other Oregon Schools are considered equivalent or a substitute for OSU general chemistry courses. These are the only courses from the specific school that can serve as a prerequisite for OSU organic chemistry and can fulfill the general chemistry requirements for OSU majors or for the OSU chemistry minor.

Many transfer chemistry courses articulate to OSU with OSU course numbers and no additional action is required if the courses have been processed by OSU admission and entered into the electronic data base. For courses highlighted in red below, the course or courses did not articulate to specific OSU number courses (rather as CH LDT) before Spring 2011. In this case, the student must request an override through the chemistry office. Click here if you need an override.

A chemistry sequence that fulfills the requirement of CH231/261 - CH233/263 (previously CH 221-223) also fulfills the requirement of CH 121-123.

All private schools are based on semesters and both semesters of chemistry must be completed to fulfill the OSU general chemistry requirement. Completion of both semesters in the sequence is considered equivalent to completion of three quarters at OSU or one year of general chemistry. When the total equivalent quarter credits exceed 5 (for a lecture/lab course) or 4 (for a standalone lecture course), the remainder of the credits will articulate as CH LDT credits.

Any other chemistry courses from these schools that are not shown on this table do not serve as acceptable general chemistry courses for programs at OSU.
