Job Openings: Chemistry Instructor

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for two full‑time (1.00 FTE) Instructor positions (9‑ or 12‑month). We seek one Organic/General Chemistry Instructor and one Physical/General Chemistry Instructor to support our growing undergraduate program.

  • Start date: September 1, 2026 (flexible)
  • Full consideration deadline: April 10, 2026.

Overview

These are renewable, fixed-term appointments with future opportunities for advancement to Senior Instructor ranks, Professor of Teaching, and leadership roles at the department or university level. Teaching load aligns with comparable instructor roles in the department. Large-enrollment courses will include strong TA support. Instructors will also have access to existing course materials and will generally work within coordinated teaching teams. In addition, OSU provides strong instructional support through the Center for Teaching and Learning, including faculty learning communities, workshops, consultations, and access to professional development funding.

Qualifications

Required

  • M.S. in Chemistry or a closely related field
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collegial, and collaborative environment for faculty, staff, and students
  • Experience or strong interest in chemistry instruction and/or curriculum development
  • Expertise in organic or physical chemistry (depending on position)

Preferred

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field

Salary and Benefits

  • $60,000–$70,000 (for 12 months), commensurate with qualifications
